For National Volunteers Week we wanted to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to TRAID volunteers past and present and share the stories of the people that generously give their time to support our work.
Today we say Thank You Titi.
Titi Jamoh has been volunteering in our Peckham charity shop since September 2017. Read her full and honest account about her motivations and experience volunteering with TRAID.
‘I didn’t expect to volunteer at TRAID at all! I was walking by the shop one day and I saw a lot of activities going on. I came in and they were doing some kind of photo shoot so I came in and immediately felt comfortable with the positive atmosphere and I thought – I’d like to volunteer here! So, I went and approached a member of staff, I applied online and have been volunteering ever since.
Volunteering has been really great. The staff are really good, the manager is great to work for and we work well together as a team. Everyone is really friendly and open and I’m benefiting from being in this environment. I come from a fashion background and I’ve been given the opportunity to help people on the shop floor with styling advice and tips on how to combine outfits so I’m really loving volunteering whilst I look for work.
If someone was considering volunteering at TRAID I’d say GO FOR IT! You get to support a good cause. The clothes are nice. The people are nice. It’s a nice environment. I’m loving it! Thank you TRAID for having me.’
