We throw away around 300,000 tonnes of textiles each year, resulting in over 5% of the UK’s annual carbon and water footprint – of these disposed textiles, only 16% are reused! Across West London, approximately 18,000 tonnes of textiles are thrown out as rubbish resulting in unnecessary disposal costs. So, extending the life of our clothes by reusing them, is a practical and important action we can take to be more sustainable.

“E&W Couture creates beautiful alternative dresses for brides who are looking for something a little different” says Sophie Creed, Founder of E&W. “As a sustainable brand with nearly zero waste output, a collaboration with West London Waste to raise awareness around textile waste & recycling was the perfect opportunity”

‘We are really excited at West London Waste to work on this campaign with E&W Couture, supported by Arcadia and Traid. Reducing, reusing and recycling textiles is pivotal in shaping our sustainable future and minimising our waste. We truly feel this campaign is a great way to showcase beauty and value from perceived unwanted items.’ says Emma Hall, Waste Minimisation Project Officer at WLWA.
