The TRAID Education team went down to Brighton to teach a group of young people at Brighton Museum and Art Gallery simple upcycling techniques as part of a project looking at accessories.
The young people were shown how to turn unwanted and damaged T-shirts back into yarn. Then, with the T-shirt turned back into its raw state we were able to experiment with weaving and knitting the T-shirts into beautiful headbands, necklaces and bracelets.
We’ll be at the Hornsey Street Festival on Sunday 1st June as part of the Holloway Arts Festival.
If you’re feeling inspired we’ll be doing a similar workshop with North London residents getting creative with textile waste, so hopefully we’ll see you there!
