It was an honour to be invited to be the sustainable fashion partner at this year’s NME Lifehacks during our fourth annual Secondhandfirst Week. Organised by NME, Create Jobs and University of Salford the event was aimed at 16-24 year olds interested in a career in the creative industries with an evening jam-packed with inspiring talks, workshops, networking opportunities and a secret gig.
Around 400 young people came to the sold out event in Islington, North London, where we ran our popular slogan screen-printing T-shirt workshop, alongside showcasing a curated rail of second-hand clothes and accessories to highlight the unique pieces you can find and wear ethically and affordably.
A number of young people seized the opportunity to style up some second-hand clothes and accessories to take part in a photo shoot to support raising the profile of our #secondhandfirst campaign.
The vibes and energy on the night have been captured in this short video and you can see below for a selection of photos from the photo shoot. We think they capture the individuality and freedom of expression that is enabled through choosing secondhand! We hope, by taking part in this fantastic event, that through creative conversations young people feel inspired to wear their values and show they care to be part of the change we need to see in the fashion industry.
