Repair Cafe Leytonstone is a community project to help tackle waste and give new lease of life to items we might otherwise throw away.

TRAID are running a free clothes repair workshop each month where you can come and learn the skills to repair the holes in your jumpers or the rips in your jeans, and our expert repair team will help you develop your own repair skills.

Bring along one or two items of clothes that are in need of repair or alteration and we will teach you how to fix them. If you don’t have anything to repair but would still like to take part and learn mending skills then we will have some materials for you to practice on.

All materials included, however please note, if you have a broken zip, please do bring along a replacement zip with you, which you can purchase from a local haberdashery shop.

Each month TRAID will be joined by different partners to make up our resident repair team: The Restart Project, Cycle Confident and Forest Recycling Project taking turns each month fixing resident’s small electrical items, bicycles and teaching DIY skills, alongside TRAID’s clothes repair and the Saturday cafe with homemade cake and tea, so do check Waltham Forest’s Council website here to find out what is planned each month.

This year we would also like to hear from you as we’re handing the power of repair to the people! If you are passionate about fixing or upcycling then we’d like you to take part in this year’s series and share your skills with others. Email Sarah to register your interest in volunteering your skills at these events.
