TRAID is working on a cross inter-generational project with Circle 33 Housing Trust residents to promote textile reuse and waste reduction. The Trust has placed TRAID charity textile banks and our team is delivering creative workshops and discussion sessions on the consequences of waste and consumption, and what we can do about it. The activities are designed to be inter-generational to engage as many residents as possible. Participants will look at where clothes are made and the conditions they are made in, and will explore what a sustainable fashion industry could look like. Discussions on textile waste and its impacts will lead on to practical sessions to design and construct pieces from textile waste creating new sustainable garments. This work will not only encourage residents to recycle more of their unwanted clothes, but will also equip participants with knowledge, new skills and confidence in a community setting.
