Frequently Asked Questions
Will TRAID fund Southern organisations?
In the past TRAID has usually only funded UK NGOS.
If you know of Southern organisations who may have projects that meet the broad criteria, and wish to submit a proposal to TRAID, we will consider it.. Southern organisations must have the appropriate designation / registration in their country of operation, and references will be sought if the proposal reaches application stage.
What size are the grants available?
TRAID raise funds for international development projects through the collection and resale of the UK public's unwanted clothes and shoes. The size of grants available therefore changes from year to year depending on the quantity of textiles donated to TRAID, and our sales.
In 2009, TRAID has committed half a million pounds to international development work. Please note that the deadline for submission of initial proposals has now passed.
Are there restrictions on the timescale of a project?
There is no minimum or maximum timescale, although obviously we don’t fund projects in perpetuity – successful projects will eventually be self-sustaining.
Are there any geographical restrictions?
UK-based projects will not be funded although TRAID may fund reasonable UK project support costs. All other geographical regions will be considered.
